What is an alternative to Indeed Switzerland?

Updated:

In short

The closest alternative to Indeed Switzerland is SwissJobs.app: a Swiss job search with the CV built into it, so you tailor your CV to an advert already held here instead of pasting the posting into a separate tool. Indeed still wins on breadth — it aggregates vacancies from company career pages that reach no Swiss board, and it has company reviews and a salary section we do not offer. Search Indeed if you want the largest possible result count; use us if you want one fitting application per advert. Checked 24 August 2026.

The two products are built on different business models, and that is what actually separates them. Indeed earns money when employers make a posting more visible: the basic advert is free, and the sponsored version is billed per click. Nothing wrong with that, and Indeed says so plainly on its own employer page — but it means the order of results is not purely a question of how well a job matches you.

We sell no placement at all. There are no sponsored adverts here; the ordering comes from fit and posting date. In exchange we are smaller, and in some language regions considerably thinner than Indeed, which is quantified further down. Finding the advert is in any case only the first step: the application itself almost never goes through the board.

Destination of the apply button across the index open on SwissJobs.app on 24 August 2026, classified by the domain of the destination.

  • Indeed calls itself the world's leading job site on its own about page and states 685 million jobseeker profiles across more than 60 countries (read 24 August 2026).
  • For employers the basic advert is free; visibility comes from sponsored adverts, which Indeed says receive 3.3X the applications of free ones, billed per click.
  • Indeed serves Switzerland in four languages — the switcher on ch.indeed.com offers German, French, Italian and English.
  • Indeed has company reviews and a salary section in Swiss francs; the salary overview states no methodology. Our salary pages cite an official source for every figure.
  • In our index 54.3 per cent of adverts send you to the employer's own site to apply, 29.3 per cent into an applicant tracking system and 16.4 per cent to another job board.
  • The two largest applicant systems behind Swiss adverts are Workday at 8.1 per cent and the Swiss provider Prospective at 7.2 per cent of all adverts.
  • Not a single advert in our index sends you back to Indeed to apply.
  • Placement is not for sale here: no sponsored adverts, ordering by fit and date.
  • Honest about coverage: 25 cantons appear, but Ticino is only 1.2 per cent, with a median advert age of 66 days.

Who to choose

With Indeed Schweiz it ends at the advert. With us it starts there: the same posting produces the CV, the motivation letter, the check against it, and the entry in your RAV record.

Choose Indeed Schweiz if

  • Indeed Schweiz — the broadest aggregation, it also finds adverts that sit only on company sites.

Choose SwissJobs.app if

  • Pick the job directly — We run the job index ourselves. The advert text is already loaded, and everything else is written against exactly that text — no searching, no copying, no pasting.

  • Four tools, not one — CV, motivation letter for the same advert, a CV check against that advert, and interview preparation — one account, the same data.

  • The RAV sheet — Your job-search efforts are filled from your application tracker and printed as the official SECO form. No other tool in this comparison has it.

  • Word export, no watermark — PDF and DOCX, both clean. Many tools hand you a text file on the free plan, or stamp a watermark on the document.

  • Start without an account — The tools open without signing up. The account is asked for to save and from the second document — the first download needs none.

What Indeed offers in Switzerland, read off the site today

On 24 August 2026 we opened the Swiss Indeed pages and wrote down what they say. The homepage leads with Jobs finden and the line Hier finden Sie Ihren nächsten Job. The navigation carries four items: home, company reviews, salaries, and the employer area. On its about page Indeed calls itself die weltweit führende Online-Jobseite and states 685 million jobseeker profiles worldwide, more than 3.5 million employers, 31 hires per minute and a presence in over 60 countries.

The employer page states the model in one line: start with a free job advert. Visibility comes from the sponsored version, which Indeed says receives 3.3X more applications than free adverts, billed per click — you set a daily or monthly budget and pay only when a candidate clicks. Alongside that sits a searchable CV database, so recruiters can approach people directly rather than wait for applications.

Switzerland gets Indeed in four languages. Open the homepage in French and it reads Trouvez votre prochain emploi ici, with a switcher offering Deutsch, English and Italiano. The salary section at ch.indeed.com/career/salaries is headed Ermitteln Sie Ihr Gehaltspotenzial, quotes figures in Swiss francs, and states no methodology on the overview page — where the numbers come from is not disclosed there.

Where Indeed is genuinely the better tool

Reach, and it is not close. Because a basic advert costs nothing, employers who would never buy a paid slot on a Swiss portal still post: the dental practice, the mountain hotel, the four-person workshop. Those vacancies are often findable nowhere else. If your search term is unusual or your region is small, Indeed's result count is hard to beat.

Two features we simply do not have. Company reviews are one — if you want to read what former employees say about an employer before applying, that is on Indeed and not here. The other is the stored CV that recruiters can search. Being found rather than searching is a real channel, and we do not offer it.

For someone new to Switzerland there is a third advantage worth naming: familiarity. Indeed works the same way it did in your last country, in a language you already use, and a Swiss employer receiving an application through it does not have to wonder what the platform is. That matters more in the first months here than any feature comparison.

What a sponsored slot means for the order you see

A results list looks neutral. It need not be. Indeed's own employer page explains what sponsorship buys — substantially more applications than a free advert, paid per click. For the person searching, that means part of what sits at the top sits there because a budget is behind it. This is not a criticism; it is how nearly every large aggregator works.

That lever does not exist here. No employer can buy a higher position, because we do not sell one — posting a job on SwissJobs.app is free in the first place. The order comes from how well an advert fits your profile and how recently it appeared. You can check it: the same search term with the same profile returns the same order, whoever posted.

There is a second, rarely mentioned effect of aggregation: it can send you in circles. Click a result and you often land on another portal rather than on the employer. Not one advert in our index sends you back to Indeed to apply — we point at the source rather than reselling someone else's listing.

Where a Swiss application actually lands

On 24 August 2026 we measured where the apply button of every advert in our open index actually points. 54.3 per cent lead to the employer's own website, 29.3 per cent into an applicant tracking system, and 16.4 per cent to another job board. So the board finds the posting, but in roughly four cases out of five you apply to the company or inside its own system.

The two largest applicant systems behind Swiss adverts are Workday at 8.1 per cent of all adverts and Prospective at 7.2 per cent. Prospective is a Swiss provider, which is exactly why no English-language ATS guide mentions it: advice written for American systems talks past about a seventh of this market. Greenhouse follows at 2.7 per cent, SmartRecruiters at 1.9, Ashby at 1.4, and Umantis and Solique at 1.3 each.

How fragmented that is shows in the destinations themselves: adverts point at roughly two thousand distinct domains, 38.5 per cent of which end in .ch, and 45 per cent of those domains carry exactly one advert. It is the strongest argument that the best job site question matters less than it sounds — no portal anywhere is the place where you finally apply.

The Swiss dossier, and the fields an international CV template does not have

A Swiss application carries things a standard international CV form has no slot for: the workload as a percentage rather than full or part time, Arbeitszeugnisse — the written reference certificates former employers must issue — as a component of the dossier in their own right, a line stating your residence or work permit, and language levels on the European A1 to C2 scale. That last one is not decoration: 72.7 per cent of the adverts in our index state explicitly which languages they require.

This is where our actual difference sits, and it is narrower than marketing usually makes it. We are a job search and a CV tool in one, so you can tailor a CV to a specific advert already held here without copying the posting text anywhere. Other Swiss providers tailor to a posting too — cvswiss.ch leads its features page with exactly that. The difference is not that we tailor and they do not; it is that the advert and the tool sit in the same place.

One promise we do not make: that this gets an application past a filter. Nobody can see inside an employer's system. What can honestly be said is the mechanism — a CV using the advert's own vocabulary matches a keyword-based screen better than a generic one. Anything beyond that would be a guess.

Our coverage, including the thin parts

Freshness is our strongest number: the median advert in our index is 22 days old, 35.8 per cent appeared within the last two weeks and 57.6 per cent within the last month. Geographically 25 cantons are represented, with the expected concentration — Zurich 19.8 per cent, Bern 9.2, Basel 6.6, Geneva 5.9, Vaud 5.0, Lucerne 4.4 and Aargau 4.1.

For anyone job-hunting in English, the useful figure is the language mix: 41.7 per cent of adverts are in German, 19.8 per cent in English, 9.9 per cent in French and 1.6 per cent in Italian, with the remainder not cleanly identifiable. Roughly one advert in five is written in English, which in practice almost always means English is the working language of the team.

The weaknesses belong in the same paragraph. Ticino is 1.2 per cent of our index and the median advert there is 66 days old — for a search restricted to Ticino, Indeed is the better address. French-speaking Switzerland sits at 16.2 per cent with a median age of 28 days: usable, but jobup.ch remains the standard there. And part-time hunters will find less than they hoped: 82.8 per cent of adverts are full time, 5.4 per cent explicitly part time.

Who should use which

Indeed if you want the largest possible result count, if you are searching a small region or an unusual occupation, if you want to read company reviews, or if you would rather be approached than search. For a Ticino-only search, Indeed or a local portal too.

jobs.ch for brand reach in German-speaking Switzerland and jobup.ch for the French-speaking part — noting that both belong to the same company, so searching several of those portals does not multiply your choice. A wider overview of the Swiss portals sits at swissjobs.app/compare/best-job-sites-switzerland.

Job-Room, the public employment service platform, if you are registered with an RAV: vacancies subject to the notification duty may be visible there five working days before they are advertised elsewhere, and your job-search efforts are evidenced to the RAV regardless of which portal you found them on.

SwissJobs.app if you are applying in Switzerland and want a fitting dossier per advert rather than one CV for everything — and if it matters to you that nobody can buy a place higher up the list.

Indeed details read on ch.indeed.com on 24 August 2026 (homepage, employer page, about page, salary overview and the French version); quoted phrases are Indeed's own wording. Our own figures come from the index open on SwissJobs.app on 24 August 2026: apply destinations grouped by the domain of the apply URL, advert age from the posting date, cantons assigned from place and region fields (74.3 per cent of adverts could be assigned this way), advert language detected automatically. Every figure is a share of the index rather than an absolute count, and shifts daily.
