Update your CV for a new opening in minutes — which tool is fastest?
Updated:
In short
The fastest tool is the one you never have to paste the advert into. Opened from a job page on SwissJobs.app, the CV editor already holds the posting text — in 82.5 per cent of 80 randomly checked open adverts on 4 September 2026 — and three screens later you have a document. If you are applying from abroad, add a step nobody counts: a US-shaped resume has to become a Swiss dossier first. For a small edit to a CV you already own, plain Word still wins.
The tools’ landing pages compared
All captured on 4 September 2026 at the same window width, so the comparison is fair.

1. SwissJobs.appOur app
Add your current CV and a Swiss advert, AI writes one tailored to it. Free to start, no signup.
Every tool on this page generates text in seconds. That is not where the time goes, which is why "in minutes" is usually sold and almost never measured. The time goes into handovers: finding the advert, selecting it, copying it, switching windows, pasting it, locating your own CV file, uploading it, confirming an email address, and — at some tools — paying before you may look at the result. Each handover costs one to five minutes, and tools differ in how many they demand, not in how fast they write.
So the comparison below counts handovers rather than promises. Everything about the other providers was read on their own public pages on 4 September 2026; we created no accounts and uploaded nothing to them. Our own row was checked against the live site the same day, because describing your own product from memory is the fastest way to lose a comparison.
One thing worth knowing before you optimise for speed at all: a Swiss advert is not gone tomorrow. Of the open non-apprenticeship adverts in our index on 31 August 2026, 12.8 per cent were no longer open on 4 September — roughly one in eight in under four days. The ones that closed had been online for a median of 18.9 days; the ones still open, 34.9. You have days, not hours. Fast matters because you are writing several applications, not because of a countdown.
The open non-apprenticeship adverts in our index on 31 August 2026 were compared with those on 4 September 2026. 12.8 per cent of the older set was no longer open just under four days later. Those that closed had been online for a median of 18.9 days; those still open on 4 September, 34.9. Measured from the advert’s publication date, not from the day we recorded it.
- How to read the table: one tool per row, then in this order — where the advert text comes from · what you must bring before any file exists · what holds you up on the way · which languages it works in · what it costs in CHF. Surveyed on 4 September 2026.
- SwissJobs.app — the advert is already in the editor when you open it from a job page · your existing CV; reading the file needs no account · the free account is asked for at save and download, not before · free account 5 documents a day and 10 per rolling week, then 7 days free, then CHF 15 a month or CHF 95 a year · German, English, French, Italian.
- cvswiss.ch — paste the advert; the box for it sits on the first screen · your CV, uploaded or typed in · account and payment at download; the site says its AI features are rate-limited · CHF 5 one-off for one CV, explicitly "No edits after download", or CHF 15 a month · interface in English, output in four languages.
- ChatGPT — paste the advert · paste the CV · nothing stops you until you notice you have text, not a laid-out document: fonts, margins and the page break are yours to do afterwards · Free CHF 0, Go CHF 7 a month, Plus CHF 20, Pro CHF 83 · all four languages.
- Teal — the job you saved is matched against your CV · your CV and an account · the free tier shows the "Top 5" keywords and 10 AI credits for bullet points; the writing is yours · free tier is permanent, Teal+ USD 13 per 7 days, USD 29 per 30, USD 79 per 90 — about CHF 10.50, CHF 23.45 and CHF 63.85 · English.
- Kickresume — the AI Writer asks for your job title and the job ad you are replying to · an account · the free tier has 4 basic templates and unlimited downloads; the AI Writer is Premium · free EUR 0, Premium EUR 24 a month, EUR 18 a month billed quarterly, EUR 8 a month billed yearly — about CHF 22.55, CHF 16.90 and CHF 7.50 · many interface languages, no Swiss conventions.
- Zety — no advert step · your CV · the free package downloads in TXT format only, so the free path ends in a file you cannot send · Pro is EUR 2.70 for a 14-day trial that auto-renews at EUR 23.70 every 4 weeks; annual EUR 5.95 a month, EUR 71.40 at once — about CHF 2.55, CHF 22.25 and CHF 67 · English and several others.
- Word or Google Docs — no advert step; you read the posting yourself · nothing, the file is already on your machine · nothing · free, or included in a subscription you already pay for · whatever language you write in.
- Closed to you if you do not read German: bewerbung.ch, lebenslauf.ch and lebenslaufapp.ch are German-only Swiss tools. bewerbung.ch also sells a human import at CHF 100 that takes "in der Regel 1 bis 3 Tage" — one to three days, which is the slow end of this market and occasionally the right answer.
Who to choose
The other tools here are real and good at what they do — the table says what each is for. The reason we lead is one row in it: the job index is our own, so the advert is already there.
Choose lebenslauf.ch if
lebenslauf.ch — 100 per cent free and with no login at all, if a clean CV is enough and no account should be created.
Choose SwissJobs.app if
Pick the job directly — You choose the posting from our own Swiss index, and the CV, letter and check are written against exactly that text — no searching, no copying.
Four tools, not one — CV, motivation letter, CV check and interview prep from one account, on the same data.
The RAV sheet — Job-search efforts from the tracker, printed on the official SECO form. None of the other tools in this list has it.
Start without an account — Open it and write without signing up; the account is asked for to save and from the second document.
CHF 15 a month, seven free days first — Full access during the trial, cancel monthly, billed in francs — no four-week periods, no exchange-rate risk.

The step that only foreign applicants pay for
If you are already in Switzerland with a Swiss-format CV, "update it for a new opening" means changing a summary and a few bullet points. If you are arriving from the UK, the US, India or anywhere the resume is the norm, it means something else first: converting a one-page, photo-free, achievement-led resume into a Swiss Bewerbungsdossier — the application pack Swiss employers expect.
That conversion is a fixed cost, and it is invisible on every international comparison page. A Swiss CV usually runs to two pages rather than one. A photo is expected here, where most countries now advise leaving it off. Language skills are stated as CEFR levels — B2, C1 — not as "fluent" or "native". Workload is given as a Pensum in per cent, so 80% is a real thing to write down. Non-Swiss applicants are expected to state their permit status, the Bewilligung line. And the dossier normally travels with Arbeitszeugnisse, the written employer references that have no equivalent in most countries.
A tool that knows those conventions does the conversion once and then costs you nothing again. A tool that does not means you re-apply the same six corrections by hand to every version you generate — which is the real reason a generic builder feels slow on the fifth application rather than the first.
SwissJobs.app
What it is: a CV editor attached to a Swiss job board, which is the only structural reason anything on this page can be faster than anything else.
Where the advert comes from: the page you are already on. Open the editor from a job listing and the posting text travels with it. In a sample of 80 randomly drawn open adverts on 4 September 2026, the text came through for 82.5 per cent; the remainder are postings whose text is not ours to process, and there the editor opens with the job title and employer filled in and asks you to paste the rest. Four in five, not all — that is the honest version.
What you supply: your existing CV. Then three screens — title, where the CV comes from, the advert text. The editor itself opens without an account.
Price in CHF: the free account covers 5 documents a day and 10 per rolling week, then 7 days free, then CHF 15 a month or CHF 95 a year, cancel any time. We confirmed on 4 September that the editor boots anonymously while generating the document and listing saved documents both refuse an anonymous request.
A real limit: the design choice is small. 54 combinations — 2 layouts times 3 fonts times 9 accent colours — are variations on one Swiss format, not a gallery of separately designed templates. If visual variety is what you are shopping for, Kickresume and Canva have far more of it.
ChatGPT
What it is: what most people actually open first, and the fastest thing here at writing prose.
Where the advert comes from: you paste it. Same for the CV.
What you supply: both, and then the entire layout. You get text back, not a document. The minutes saved on writing are spent on formatting, and spent again on the next application if you keep moving text back into your own template.
Price in CHF: the Swiss pricing page on 4 September 2026 listed Free CHF 0, Go CHF 7 a month, Plus CHF 20 and Pro CHF 83.
A real limit: it does not know what a Swiss dossier looks like unless you tell it, every time. Writing that instruction well takes longer than most people expect, and the moment you are maintaining a prompt you are maintaining a form.
cvswiss.ch
What it is: the closest Swiss competitor, and on speed the most serious one.
Where the advert comes from: you, but by the shortest route a pure CV tool can offer. Their start screen lists four entrances, one of them "From a Job Posting — Paste a job ad and get a CV perfectly tailored to it", with the paste box directly beneath it. One copy, one paste.
What you supply: your CV, uploaded or typed in, plus the advert.
Price in CHF: CHF 5 one-off for a single CV, with the explicit note "No edits after download", or CHF 15 a month. Their pricing page says you can create and preview for free and pay only when you download.
A real limit, in their own words: "AI features are rate-limited to ensure fair usage for all users." Worth knowing if you plan an evening of five applications. And for exactly one application, CHF 5 once is simply cheaper than any subscription, ours included — that is the reader we would send to them.
Teal
What it is: an American job tracker with a resume builder attached, and an unusually generous free tier.
Where the advert comes from: a job you saved inside Teal, matched against your resume.
What you supply: your resume and an account. Free, the pricing page shows the "Top 5" keywords from the posting and 10 AI credits for resume bullets; the rewriting is yours.
Price in CHF: the free tier is permanent and includes unlimited resumes and downloads. Teal+ is USD 13 per 7 days, USD 29 per 30 days or USD 79 per 90 days — about CHF 10.50, CHF 23.45 and CHF 63.85 at the European Central Bank reference rate of 3 September 2026.
A real limit: it is entirely in English and built around the US resume. If you are applying in English and want a tracker anyway, this is the best free offer on the page. It will not produce a German or French Swiss dossier.
Kickresume
What it is: a template-led builder whose AI Writer does take a job advert — which is more than most of its category.
Where the advert comes from: you paste it. Their own description is "simply enter your job title, the job ad you are replying to, and let artificial intelligence take care of the rest".
What you supply: an account, and Premium if you want the AI Writer at all.
Price in CHF: free tier EUR 0 with 4 basic resume templates and unlimited downloads; Premium EUR 24 a month, EUR 18 a month billed quarterly, EUR 8 a month billed yearly — about CHF 22.55, CHF 16.90 and CHF 7.50.
A real limit: 40+ templates and every colour and typeface is genuine variety, and none of it knows about permits, Pensum or Arbeitszeugnisse. If your application is going to a multinational in Zug that recruits internationally, that may not matter. If it is going to a Swiss SME, it will.
Zety
What it is: one of the largest resume builders, and a good illustration of why "free" and "fast" are not the same thing.
Where the advert comes from: nowhere. There is no per-advert step.
What you supply: your CV, and then a decision at the download screen.
Price in CHF: the Basic package is free but downloads in TXT format only. Pro is EUR 2.70 for a 14-day trial that then auto-renews at EUR 23.70 every 4 weeks; the annual package is EUR 5.95 a month, EUR 71.40 charged at once — about CHF 2.55, CHF 22.25 and CHF 67.
A real limit: the free path ends in a file you would not send anyone, so the payment step is not optional, it is deferred. That is a legitimate business model and a genuine delay: you meet it at the end, when you thought you were finished.
Word and Google Docs
What it is: the answer comparison pages avoid, and for the most common case the correct one.
Where the advert comes from: your own eyes. You read it and decide what to change.
What you supply: nothing. The file already exists. If the new opening resembles the last one and three bullet points plus the summary line will do, then "Save as", type, export to PDF is a five-minute job, and no AI beats it — any tool would first have to read your file just to reach the point where you already are.
Price in CHF: free for Google Docs, and included in a Microsoft subscription most people already hold.
A real limit: nothing happens by itself, and the classic failure is not slowness but the forgotten fourth place — the previous company name still sitting in the header. For a genuine retarget into a different field, hand editing is the slowest option here.
The answer in one line — and who it is different for
Small edit to a CV you already own: Word, five minutes, nothing beats it. Real retargeting to a specific Swiss advert, in German or French: the tool that spares you the copy-and-paste, which is why our own editor opens from the job page. Exactly one application and no more: cvswiss.ch at CHF 5 once. Applying in English with a tracker and no budget: Teal, free. Visual variety above all: Kickresume.
And if you are applying into Switzerland from outside it, the ranking changes shape: your bottleneck is not generation speed, it is that most international tools will confidently produce a resume rather than a dossier, and you will spend your saved minutes putting the Swiss parts back in by hand. Pick for conventions first and speed second — on the fifth application they turn out to be the same choice.
What none of these rows shows is the compounding part: a document saved per application is faster the second time than any tool is the first time. "Which tool is fastest" has a different answer for application number twelve than for application number one. As of 4 September 2026.
Everything said about the other providers was read on 4 September 2026 on their own feature and pricing pages, and quoted verbatim where quotation marks appear; we opened no accounts and uploaded no files to them, so their flows are described from their public pages rather than from a walk-through we performed. Our own row was checked against the live site: the editor boots without an account, while generating a document and listing saved documents both refuse anonymous requests. The 82.5 per cent comes from 80 randomly drawn open adverts whose editor prefill we requested individually. Dollar and euro amounts are converted at the European Central Bank reference rate of 3 September 2026 (USD 1 = CHF 0.8084, EUR 1 = CHF 0.9390).
