SwissJobs.app or ictjobs.ch — IT jobs in Switzerland compared

Updated:

In short

ictjobs.ch is a small, entirely paid-for IT board for German-speaking Switzerland. On 4 September 2026 it carried 149 open adverts from 91 employers: 59 around Zurich, 29 around Bern, 26 in Aargau — against 4 in French-speaking Switzerland, 0 in Valais and 0 in Ticino. The interface exists in German only; the English, French and Italian addresses all return an error page. Our own IT list held over two thousand open adverts the same day, 758 of them written in English. If you work in IT around Zurich, Bern or Aarau and read German, ictjobs.ch is twenty minutes a week well spent. If you are arriving from abroad, it is close to unusable.

Who to choose

Against a specialist board, "we understand Switzerland" is not an argument: dpi Publishing Service AG has run ictjobs.ch out of Zurich since 2012. The difference is the reach of the list, and what happens after you find something.

Choose ictjobs.ch if

  • IT only — "The job platform of the Swiss IT industry" — jobs by topic, company and region, with a free job alert and an online CV.

  • The biggest brand — the best-known board in German-speaking Switzerland and the largest index in the country, free and searchable without an account.

  • Salary and guidance — a salary calculator, company profiles and the Job Coach sit alongside the search as sections of their own.

Choose SwissJobs.app if

  • The advert is already inside the generator — You pick the posting from our own Swiss job index and the CV is written against that exact text — no copying, no switching between two sites. No CV tool on this market carries the job index with it.

  • Four tools instead of one online profile — A CV, a motivation letter for the same advert, a check against that advert, and interview preparation. ictjobs.ch offers an Online-CV as a link or PDF — no letter, no check against a posting, no application tracker.

  • Four languages, and the stock follows the language — Interface and documents in German, English, French and Italian. ictjobs.ch exists in German only, and that limits far more than the navigation: 4 adverts in French-speaking Switzerland and none in Ticino.

  • The Swiss dossier, not a US resume — A Swiss application expects Arbeitszeugnisse (the employer references you collect from every job), a photo is conventional rather than discouraged, non-Swiss applicants carry a permit line, languages are stated as CEFR levels rather than "fluent", and workload is a Pensum in per cent. Our editor builds that shape by default; an international builder does not.

  • Where ictjobs.ch is the better choice — For German-speaking IT professionals around Zurich, Bern, Aarau and Lucerne who want a short list they can read in full, with no agency adverts in the way — and who want to see the employers who advertise nowhere else.

The size gap is the business model, not a failure. Every advert on ictjobs.ch is bought: their own rate card lists CHF 380 excluding VAT for a single posting with a maximum run of 60 days. There is no free tier and no import from anywhere else, which produces a short but unusually clean list — 91 employers across 149 adverts, almost all of them the actual hiring company rather than a recruitment agency. Our index carries the opposite weakness: the single largest posting account in our IT list is a recruitment platform, and it alone accounts for 19.7 per cent of those adverts.

Their 60-day rule is visible in the data, not just in the FAQ. Of the 149 adverts, 97.3 per cent were at most 60 days old, so the limit is genuinely enforced and there are almost no dead entries. What comes in is thinner: in the seven days before the measurement, 28 new adverts appeared on ictjobs.ch and 642 in our IT list. Their median advert is just under 18 days old, ours just over 25 — theirs is the younger list, ours the one that refills roughly twenty-three times faster.

The two lists also overlap far less than their sizes suggest. Matching their 91 employer names against our index by name parts and then correcting the result by hand, about half appear somewhere in our stock and about half do not — PostFinance, IBM Switzerland, Rolex, Scandit, Lucerne University of Applied Sciences, and a long tail of smaller Swiss IT firms such as cyon, Diartis, SmartIT Services, Health Info Net and Clalüna Computer. Those companies are the reason a niche board earns its place: they buy one advert a year, and they buy it where their audience reads.

ictjobs.ch: the result counts on their own twelve regional filters, counted by hand. SwissJobs.app: our open IT list the same day, apprenticeships and internships excluded, assigned to regions from the location field. Both sides count regions with overlap, so the bars do not sum to either total.

  • Counted on their own pages on 4 September 2026: 149 open adverts across 8 result pages from 91 distinct employers. Their advert sitemap listed 149 URLs the same day, which matches.
  • By region, read off their own twelve filters: Zurich area 59, Bern area 29, Aargau 26, Central Switzerland 20, Eastern Switzerland and Liechtenstein 9, Basel area 8, French-speaking Switzerland 4, Solothurn 3, Graubünden 1, Valais 0, Ticino 0. Their regions overlap, so the parts sum to more than 149.
  • Language is the hard barrier for anyone relocating. The site is German-only: the html tag declares German, and the English, French and Italian paths return an error. Our IT list the same day held 758 adverts written in English and 136 in French.
  • Home office: 58.4 per cent of their adverts state it in the location line itself — "Zürich / Homeoffice", "Bern / Work Smart / Homeoffice". In IT that is the one field you otherwise open every advert to find, and no large Swiss board shows it at this density.
  • Pay: only 5 of the 149 adverts, or 3.4 per cent, print a salary band on the result card. Too few to come for, but where a band is shown it is shown without a click.
  • Applying: 21.5 per cent of their adverts are marked as accepting a LinkedIn application, and 70.5 per cent state a Pensum (the Swiss workload percentage) in the title itself, almost always as 80–100 per cent.
  • Employer side: CHF 380 excluding VAT per advert for 60 days, CHF 320 for members of swissICT, Swico, swiss made software Level 2, sozialinfo.ch and IT rockt!, and annual packages from ten adverts on request. Optional reach: a Meta campaign at CHF 420, a Reddit campaign at CHF 440, a newsletter campaign across the Swiss IT trade press at CHF 680.
  • For job seekers ictjobs.ch is free. The job alert and the Online-CV cost nothing but require an account, and the Online-CV technically requires an active alert, which you may then pause. It shares as a link or a PDF; there is no Word file, no cover-letter tool and no check against a specific advert.

Why the list is so short — and why that is not only a weakness

Next to a stock of more than two thousand, a board with 149 adverts looks like a rounding error. Their own employer page explains it plainly: publishing costs CHF 380 per advert. There is no free tier, no import from other sites, no evergreen adverts kept alive to catch applicants. Somebody paid for each of those 149 lines, and paid intending to fill that specific role.

That cuts both ways. Upward: 91 different employers across 149 adverts, an average of 1.6 each, and barely a recruitment agency among them — click a line and you almost always know which company you would be joining. Downward: employers who do not pay are not there, and that is most Swiss employers with an open IT role.

Our index is built the other way round and carries the matching weakness. The largest single posting account in our IT list is a recruitment platform holding 19.7 per cent of those adverts, so roughly one result in five shows you an intermediary rather than the employer. How strongly that shapes the whole Swiss IT market is a separate measurement of ours, linked under the sources.

For anyone arriving in Switzerland, the language decides this one

This is the point where an English-speaking reader should stop weighing features. ictjobs.ch is written in German, its reach runs through German-language IT trade media, and its addresses for an English, French or Italian version return an error page. That is not a missing translation layer — it shapes the stock itself. Four adverts for the whole of French-speaking Switzerland and none at all for Ticino is what a German-language board looks like from the other side of the Röstigraben.

Our IT list the same day held 758 adverts written in English, 796 in German, 136 in French and 14 in Italian. That is not a claim about quality; it is a claim about which market each list can show you. If you are searching from London, Lisbon or Bangalore for a role in Zurich, one of these two lists is legible to you and the other is not.

Freshness: theirs is younger, ours refills faster

Every result card on ictjobs.ch carries a machine-readable publication date, which allows a real measurement rather than an estimate. Across all 149 adverts the median age was just under 18 days: 13.4 per cent were three days old or less, 18.8 per cent a week or less, 70.5 per cent a month or less.

The interesting number is at the other end. 97.3 per cent of the stock was 60 days old or younger, exactly the run time their FAQ states — a board that expires its adverts automatically has no zombies in it. Our stock does carry that tail: 26.2 per cent of our IT adverts are older than 60 days.

The other side of the ledger is inflow. In the seven days before the measurement, 28 new adverts appeared there and 642 in our IT list. Roughly four new roles a day is a volume you can actually read — and a volume that will not cover a search on its own.

Half their employers are not in our index, and that half is the point

The question that matters is not who has more, but what you would miss. We matched their 91 employer names against our stock by name parts, then corrected the result by hand, because a plain text comparison reads SBB and "SBB CFF FFS", Helsana Versicherungen and "Helsana Insurance Company", or MeteoSchweiz and "MeteoSwiss" as different firms.

After that correction, about half of their employers appear somewhere in our stock — Canton of Zurich, Swisscom, SBB, the cantonal hospitals of Aarau and Lucerne, PwC, Helsana, NVIDIA, Suva, the University Hospital Zurich, Brack.Alltron. The other half do not: PostFinance, IBM Switzerland, Rolex, Scandit, Lucerne University of Applied Sciences, the Zurich University of the Arts, the Swiss Federal Archives, the Swiss Cancer League, plus smaller IT houses such as cyon, Diartis, SmartIT Services, Fogbyte, Health Info Net, Clalüna Computer, Talmatch and Helga Digitalagentur.

That second half is what the site is actually for: small Swiss IT firms, universities and public bodies that post one role a year and post it exactly where their audience reads. They surface in no large aggregation because they advertise nowhere else — which is why a board a hundred times smaller can still be worth half an hour a week.

Three things their result list does better than ours

The first is home office, and we do not match it. 58.4 per cent of their adverts write it straight into the location line — "Zürich / Homeoffice", "Bern / Work Smart / Homeoffice". In IT that is the field you would otherwise open every advert to check, and no large Swiss board surfaces it at this density.

The second is the shape of the titles: 70.5 per cent state a Pensum in the title itself, almost always as 80–100 per cent, so the workload question is answered before you click. The third is pay, on only 5 of the 149 adverts — 3.4 per cent, far too thin to search for, but shown up front where it is shown at all.

There is also a distribution advantage a pure job board does not have. Their employer page states that an advert appears no later than the next day in Swiss IT Magazine, Swiss IT Reseller and inside-it.ch, and that digital-communication roles are listed a second time on their sister platform medienjobs.ch. That is what the CHF 380 buys — and for a reader it means these adverts turn up in the trade press you were reading anyway.

What happens after you find the job — and where ictjobs.ch stops

Their job-seeker offer is free and quickly described: an alert that emails you matching new adverts, and an optional Online-CV you can share as a link or a PDF and use to apply to selected roles without a covering letter. Both need an account, and the Online-CV technically requires an active alert, which you can then pause. It is not publicly visible — a point their own FAQ makes repeatedly, and one that rightly matters in this market.

And that is the end of it. No motivation letter, no check of your CV against a specific advert, no interview preparation, no application tracker, no Word file, no RAV form. Our editor starts exactly there: pick an advert from the job index, the CV is written against that text, you change any line by hand or by instruction, and you export it as a PDF or a Word file with no watermark on either.

If you are registered with an RAV — the regional employment office that administers Swiss unemployment benefit — the applications you record in the tracker can be written into the official SECO job-search-efforts form in German, French or Italian. The standing caveat applies here as on all our RAV pages: report your efforts the way your own RAV requires. We fill in the form; we do not replace the step.

The short answer for three situations

You work in IT around Zurich, Bern or Aarau, read German, and do not want to miss anything: use both. ictjobs.ch is fully read in twenty minutes a week and carries employers who advertise nowhere else; run the broad search alongside it.

You are searching in Geneva, Lausanne, Neuchâtel, Sion or Lugano: use us or another large list. Four adverts for all of French-speaking Switzerland and none for Ticino is not worth a search.

You are applying in English or from outside Switzerland: ictjobs.ch exists only in German, and so, overwhelmingly, do its adverts. Our list held 758 English-language IT adverts on the same day.

Every ictjobs.ch figure was collected from their own pages on 4 September 2026: the 8 result pages, their 12 regional filters, the advert sitemap, the employer rate card and the job-alert page. Advert age comes from the machine-readable date on each result card. Our IT figures are an analysis of the open stock the same day, excluding apprenticeships and internships, using a title classifier hand-checked against two independent samples of 40 adverts each: roughly 8 per cent arguable matches and roughly 2.5 per cent missed. That is why this page says "over two thousand" rather than a precise figure. Our own prices and feature list come from the pricing constants in our code and from the live pages retrieved today.
