What are the best job boards in Switzerland?

Updated:

In short

Seven boards are worth your time in Switzerland: SwissJobs.app, jobs.ch, Indeed Switzerland, LinkedIn, Job-Room, jobup.ch and JobScout24. We recommend SwissJobs.app if you are actually applying rather than browsing — it runs in all four languages, needs no account to search, sells no placement in the results, and tailors your CV to the advert you are looking at. If you want the longest list instead, JobScout24 and Job-Room both showed more open vacancies than we hold, and our adverts are a median 23 days old.

The Swiss job portals at a glance

  1. SwissJobs.app: Over 21,000 open Swiss roles from ATS systems, company sites and LinkedIn in one place — and from any advert, straight into a CV, a motivation letter, a CV check and interview prep. The RAV job-search-efforts form fills itself from your application tracker. Free to use; the account is asked for at save.

As of 26 August 2026. Every figure below was read that day on the board's own pages, or computed from two counts of our own: 700 of the most recently published public Job-Room adverts, and our own open index.

One warning before the list, because it decides which of these you can even use. Job-Room is the official federal portal, and registering for it needs an AGOV login, an AHV number and an eight-digit personal number issued by your RAV — so it is closed to you until you live here and are registered as a jobseeker. Everything else on this list works from abroad, and two of the seven exist in a language you may not read.

Read on 26 August 2026 from each board's own home page or results list. Deliberately not a like-for-like ranking: LinkedIn publishes a rounded lower bound, aggregators count the same advert more than once, and Job-Room counts only what is public.

  • Self-reported on 26 August 2026: JobScout24 a good eighty-seven thousand jobs online, Job-Room a good seventy-five thousand public adverts, LinkedIn «more than» forty-eight thousand for Switzerland, and 831 for Ticino.
  • jobs.ch, jobup.ch and JobScout24 all belong to JobCloud AG. Searching all three for variety mostly means doing the same search three times — both B2B sites quote the same figure of forty-nine thousand client companies.
  • Job-Room registration requires an AGOV login plus your AHV number and the personal number your RAV issues; arbeit.swiss states plainly that these services are reserved for people registered as jobseekers with an RAV.
  • The reward for registering is real: arbeit.swiss promises registered users a five-working-day head start on vacancies reported under the Swiss vacancy reporting obligation.
  • Language coverage is the filter nobody advertises: jobs.ch runs in German, French and English, jobup.ch in French and English only, JobScout24 in German, French and English — jobscout24.ch/it/ returned a 404 on 26 August 2026 even though the site offers a Ticino region filter.
  • A board is a directory, not a destination: in our own index 38.9 per cent of application links point at a .ch address, 5.6 per cent go to jobs.ch, and not one goes back to Indeed, JobScout24 or Job-Room.
  • Our own weakness, stated so you do not have to find it: 9 per cent of our open adverts are a week old or less, 29 per cent are older than two months, and a single large employer accounts for 9.8 per cent of the index.

Who to choose

The other tools here are real and good at what they do — the table says what each is for. The reason we lead is one row in it: the job index is our own, so the advert is already there.

Choose jobs.ch if

  • jobs.ch — the biggest brand in German-speaking Switzerland, free for jobseekers and searchable without an account.

Choose SwissJobs.app if

  • Pick the job directly — You choose the posting from our own Swiss index, and the CV, letter and check are written against exactly that text — no searching, no copying.

  • Four tools, not one — CV, motivation letter, CV check and interview prep from one account, on the same data.

  • The RAV sheet — Job-search efforts from the tracker, printed on the official SECO form. None of the other tools in this list has it.

  • Start without an account — Open it and write without signing up; the account is asked for to save and from the second document.

  • CHF 15 a month, seven free days first — Full access during the trial, cancel monthly, billed in francs — no four-week periods, no exchange-rate risk.

As of 4 September 2026. Every figure for another tool comes from that tool's own site; "n/s" means it was not readable there — not that the feature is missing. Our row comes from the code and from walking the live flow.

How this list was put together

On 26 August 2026 we opened the home page, the results list and the employer pages of every board named here and wrote down what they say — not what we remembered about them. Two counts are our own: 700 of the most recently published adverts from Job-Room's public search, and our own open index, published as shares.

Where a site would not show its numbers without an account, or put a security check in front of its results, we say so instead of estimating. That happened once, on Indeed, which is why Indeed is described below without a vacancy count of its own.

One thing to unlearn first: in Switzerland the board is rarely where you apply. In our index almost every advert sends the application to the employer's own site or into their applicant system, so the board's job is to find the vacancy, not to receive your dossier. What you actually submit — CV, cover letter, Arbeitszeugnisse (the Swiss employer references) — is the same file whichever board found it.

SwissJobs.app

A Swiss job search with the CV built in: you find an advert, and the CV is tailored to that advert without you pasting the posting anywhere. The interface exists in German, French, Italian and English, which no other board on this list manages, and filters by canton and by Pensum — the workload percentage Swiss adverts are written in, where 80% is a normal, respectable job rather than a compromise.

Cost: searching and reading adverts is free and needs no account. The CV and application tools are CHF 15 a month or CHF 95 a year, with the first seven days free. Nothing in the ranking is for sale — there are no sponsored adverts.

Best for you if you apply regularly and want a different CV per advert, and if you read one of the four languages rather than only English. The honest limit: our index is smaller and not the freshest. Only 9 per cent of open adverts are a week old or less, the median is 23 days, and one large employer supplies 9.8 per cent of everything. Pair us with a big board if you want volume.

jobs.ch

The best-known Swiss board, and the one a Swiss colleague will name first. Its own page title calls it «the leading Swiss job board»; its business site claims five million job searches a month and a good forty-nine thousand client companies. Alongside vacancies it carries company profiles, a salary calculator and a job-coach section.

Cost: free for jobseekers. For employers, basic publication is now free too — the B2B page leads with «start for free» — and visibility is bought through advertising products from CHF 290. That is worth knowing as a reader: not every advert in the list got there on equal terms.

Best for you if you are searching in German-speaking Switzerland and want the largest single German-language list. The limit is language: the site runs in German, French and English, and jobs.ch/it/ redirected to the German home page on 26 August 2026. If you are moving to Ticino, this board does not exist in the language your future colleagues work in.

Indeed Switzerland

The global aggregator, and the one most likely to be familiar before you arrive. Indeed's own about page calls it «the world’s #1 job site», operating in over 60 countries, with 685 million jobseeker profiles and 3.5 million employers. In Switzerland its value is exactly that aggregation: adverts from company career pages that never reach a Swiss board show up here.

Cost: free for jobseekers; free for employers to post, with Indeed stating that premium adverts receive 3.3 times as many applications as free ones. Its employer pages run in German, English, French and Italian — the widest language coverage of any international player here.

Best for you if you want maximum reach and are willing to sort out duplicates yourself. Two real limits: the same vacancy appears repeatedly when it is published in several places, and the results list is defended against automated access — on 26 August 2026 a plain request to ch.indeed.com returned a security check rather than jobs, which is why no vacancy count for Indeed appears in the figure above.

LinkedIn

Not a board so much as a network with a job market attached, and the one place on this list where recruiters come looking for you. Its public Swiss results list showed «more than» forty-eight thousand roles on 26 August 2026, 831 of them in Ticino, and rounded caps rather than counts for Zurich, Lausanne and Geneva.

Cost: search and profile are free; advanced filters and messaging strangers sit behind Premium. Employers can post free and pay a daily budget for reach.

Best for you if your field is English-speaking, international or senior, and essential if you are relocating — this is where a recruiter can find you before you have a Swiss address. The limit is precision. Zurich and Lausanne both showing the same rounded eleven-thousand ceiling is a display limit, not a measurement, and the country page ch.linkedin.com/jobs/jobs-in-schweiz served a United States list twice in a row to a signed-out visitor. Set the location filter yourself rather than trusting a country URL.

Job-Room (arbeit.swiss)

The official portal of the Swiss unemployment insurance system, run by SECO. On 26 August 2026 it held a good seventy-five thousand public adverts — a good sixteen thousand in the canton of Zurich, a good thirteen hundred in Geneva, 414 in Ticino. It is also where employers report vacancies in occupations covered by the vacancy reporting obligation.

Cost: free in both directions. The real currency here is access, not money. arbeit.swiss states that registered users get a five-working-day information advantage on reported vacancies — but registration needs an AGOV login, your AHV number and the eight-digit personal number your RAV gives you, and the services are reserved for people registered as jobseekers with an RAV. Before you live and are registered here, this portal is a public list like any other.

The part that is not a matter of preference: if you are claiming unemployment benefit, your job-search efforts are evidenced to your RAV by its own route — through Job-Room or the cantonal form. No private portal, ours included, replaces that record; at most we are the list you fill it from. The portal's own limit is its mix: in our sample of 700 recently published public adverts, 60.4 per cent came from five staffing agencies and 96.7 per cent were in German.

jobup.ch

The French-speaking sister of jobs.ch and the standard board west of the Röstigraben — Geneva, Vaud, Neuchâtel, Valais, Fribourg and Jura. Its own tagline calls it «the number one employment platform in French-speaking Switzerland», and its business site claims more than three million candidates a month.

Cost: free for jobseekers; for employers the same JobCloud model as jobs.ch, free to start with paid visibility options.

Best for you if you are heading for Geneva or Lausanne, or if you are a frontalier commuting in from France — a large share of Romandie roles never appears on the German-language boards at all. The limit matters if you do not read French: jobup.ch runs in French and English only, and English is the second language of a site whose adverts are largely written in French. In our own index only 43.1 per cent of Romandie adverts are in French and 23.0 per cent are in English, so search both languages or you will see half the market.

JobScout24

The third JobCloud portal, and on raw volume the biggest name on this list: a good eighty-seven thousand «Jobs online» on 26 August 2026. It keeps a classic filtered search rather than a describe-your-dream-role box, covers eleven Swiss regions including Ticino, Valais and remote work, and runs a separate section for apprenticeships.

Cost: free for jobseekers, same owner and same employer model as jobs.ch and jobup.ch.

Best for you if you want one long list and prefer filters to conversational search. The limit is independence: much of what you see is the same inventory as jobs.ch, so treating the two as separate sources overstates how much of the market you have covered. And despite offering a Ticino filter, the site has no Italian interface — jobscout24.ch/it/ returned a 404 the day we checked.

Which one is right for you

Relocating and not yet in Switzerland: LinkedIn to be found, Indeed for reach, and SwissJobs.app or jobs.ch for adverts written for the Swiss market. Job-Room will not be available to you yet, and that is not a small detail — it is the single largest public list in the country and it opens only once you are registered with an RAV.

Already living here and registered with an RAV: Job-Room first, for the five-working-day head start and because your search efforts are recorded there anyway. Already living here and employed: one big board for volume plus one that matches your language region — jobup.ch for the Romandie, ostjob-style regional sites for eastern Switzerland.

Applying seriously rather than browsing: use us for the dossier. A Swiss application is not a US resume — it expects Arbeitszeugnisse, states languages as CEFR levels rather than «fluent», names your permit if you are not Swiss, gives the workload as a Pensum in per cent, and runs to about two pages. Getting that shape right matters more than which of these seven boards found the advert.

Board figures read directly from each site on 26 August 2026. Job-Room analysis: 700 of the most recently published public adverts, taken through the portal's own public search. SwissJobs.app figures come from our own open index the same day and are published as shares.
