SwissJobs.app or jobagent.ch — which job search with email alerts should you use?

Updated:

In short

Both send new Swiss job postings by email, both for free and both without an account. Two things decide it for a reader working in English. jobagent.ch runs in German and French only — the address ending in /en answers «Seite nicht gefunden» — and its results list shows no posting date at all, with no way to sort by date. Our search runs in English, French, Italian and German, and every listing carries its age: «Today», «Yesterday», «6 days ago». What jobagent.ch has instead is reach: it is a search engine across the other Swiss boards. Checked 4 September 2026.

On proof of job-search efforts: what counts is what reaches your RAV/ORP on time. No tool — ours included — replaces submitting it. Ask your RAV adviser if anything is unclear.

Who to choose

For someone arriving in — or applying into — Switzerland from outside, two things settle this: whether you can read the tool at all, and whether it tells you how old a posting is. On both, the two products differ by design rather than by degree.

Choose jobagent.ch if

  • jobagent.ch — Paid positions in the results list · Employer ratings · Salary calculator.

  • Notify rather than search — the Job-Abo mails new adverts from every portal it covers in one message, better if you would rather not search daily.

  • Guides and a salary calculator alongside — under «Ratgeber & Tools» sit a salary calculator, a self-assessment and application help.

Choose SwissJobs.app if

  • It runs in your language — English, French, Italian and German, each with its own search pages and its own alert. jobagent.ch switches between German and French; we found no English or Italian interface.

  • Every posting shows its age — «Today», «Yesterday», «6 days ago» on every card, a badge on new ones, and a heading that says how many of the open jobs appeared in the last seven days. jobagent.ch’s results list carries no dates and cannot be sorted by date.

  • The advert is already in the CV generator — We hold the job index ourselves, so from a posting you open a CV written against that exact advert, a check against it, a motivation letter for it and interview preparation — with no copying and pasting. jobagent.ch links out to a separate provider for CVs and letters.

  • Built on Swiss application rules — The work-permit line, language levels as A1–C2 rather than «fluent», the workload as a percentage, the Arbeitszeugnis (the Swiss employer reference), two pages as the norm. A generic builder gives you a US resume, which is the wrong document here.

  • The official RAV sheet without a voucher — Tracked applications fill the official SECO job-search-efforts form in German, French or Italian, as part of the free account. On jobagent.ch the same route needs a Premium account unlocked by a voucher code.

jobagent.ch is operated by x28 AG and calls itself a first-class job search engine that finds, with more than a quarter of a million jobs, «the most open positions in Switzerland» — explicitly ALL advertised vacancies. That is a different design from ours. We run our own index of open Swiss postings, considerably smaller, but every posting dated, in four languages, with the application tools attached to it.

Everything below we opened ourselves on 4 September 2026 without signing in: their home page in German and French, their alert page, one results list, one posting, their voucher page and their guide to the RAV proof — and we walked the same steps on our own site the same day. Where their pages did not say, this page says «not stated» rather than guessing a No.

Share by advert language, among the open Swiss postings in our index whose language is detected, 4 September 2026. Which language an advert is written in decides who can apply.

  • Interface languages — SwissJobs.app: German, English, French and Italian, each with its own pages, each search page linking its siblings. jobagent.ch: the language switch offers German and French; www.jobagent.ch/en returned «Seite nicht gefunden» on 4 September 2026.
  • Alert without an account — both. On jobagent.ch you activate the Job-Abo straight from a results page with an email address. On ours every search page carries the same offer, worded «No account needed, unsubscribe any time».
  • What arrives, and when — ours goes out on weekday mornings, contains only postings that are new for that exact search since the last send, at most eight, and nothing at all when nothing is new. jobagent.ch says «via the website or by email» and states no rhythm: not stated.
  • Posting dates — on their Informatik results list there were 107 entries on page one, not one of them showing when it was published, and the page offers filters but no sort order. Ours shows the age on every card and counts the week’s new arrivals in the heading.
  • Paid positions — the first seven entries on that results page were marked «Anzeige» (advertisement). We sell no positions in the results list.
  • How old a posting can get — the single posting we opened carried 7 May 2026 as its publication date in the page’s structured data and was still running as a top advertisement on 4 September. One case, not a series — but nowhere on the page was that date visible to a reader.
  • Which language the jobs themselves are in — of the postings in our index whose language is detected, 55.1 per cent are German, 28.1 per cent English, 14.5 per cent French and 2.3 per cent Italian. English-language adverts are a real segment, not a rounding error, and they are the ones open to you before your German is ready.
  • The RAV proof of job-search efforts — both produce the official monthly sheet. On jobagent.ch their own guide requires an account plus a Premium access unlocked with a voucher code («personal and non-transferable»); no price is shown. On ours it belongs to the free account and can be viewed without signing up.

The interface language is the first filter, not a preference

jobagent.ch is a solid Swiss product with a straightforward gap for this reader: its language switch offers German and French. We checked the English address as well — it answers «Seite nicht gefunden», page not found. We found no Italian interface either.

The French version is also a thinner shell than the German one. The menu of guides, the salary calculator and the career glossary that sit on the German home page are not there, and the featured jobs on the French home page on 4 September were German-language postings from a Zurich hospital.

None of this matters if you search in German in the German-speaking cantons — that is where jobagent.ch is at home and where it is strong. It matters immediately if you are working in English while your German is still arriving, or if you are searching in Ticino or the Romandie. An alert you cannot read is not an alert.

Which Swiss job adverts are actually in English

This is the number that decides how much of the Swiss market is open to you today, and it is our own: of the open postings in our index whose language is detected, 28.1 per cent are written in English. German is 55.1 per cent, French 14.5, Italian 2.3.

That English share is not spread evenly. It concentrates in the international employers, in research, pharma and technology, and around Zurich, Basel, Geneva and Zug. In the cantonal administration, in care, in the trades and in retail, the advert is in the local language, and the language requirement in it is real rather than decorative.

The practical consequence for an alert: set it on the search you can actually apply to. An alert that returns forty German-language postings a week when you cannot yet write a German motivation letter trains you to ignore the email. One narrower alert you open every morning is worth more than three you delete.

A job alert is a promise about time — and the date is missing on one side

Any job board can search. What you subscribe to an alert for is being early. So the question that decides an alert is whether the tool knows how old a posting is, and whether it tells you.

On 4 September 2026 we opened the Informatik results list on jobagent.ch without an account. Page one held 107 entries, each with a title, a place, a company and often a rating score beside the company name. Not one carried a publication date. The page filters by canton, industry, workload and languages; it offers no sort order at all, so «newest first» is not available.

We then opened one single posting. It is a clean, mobile-friendly rendering of the original advert, salary band included, with a link to the original. In that page’s structured data the publication date is 7 May 2026 — and on 4 September it was still running as the top advertisement. That is one posting, not a measured sample: we did not widen it, because their protection system blocks fast repeated requests and we respect that. But it shows what a missing date costs you in practice.

On our side the same information is on the surface. Every card says «Today», «Yesterday» or «6 days ago», new ones carry a badge, and the heading of each search page states both the open jobs and how many appeared in the last seven days — in Zurich on 4 September, 32.0 per cent of the open jobs were from the past week; in Geneva 27.9. That share is exactly what an alert on that search delivers.

What our alert actually sends

The offer sits on every search page: «We send matching new postings as they appear. No account needed, unsubscribe any time.» An email address is enough.

What follows is deliberately narrow. The email goes out on weekday mornings and contains only postings that are new for that exact search since the last send, at most eight of them. If nothing is new, no email is sent — the fastest way to lose a list is to mail people the same jobs twice. The first email after subscribing looks back three days so it is never empty. With an account you also get a personalised daily digest, which is likewise skipped when nothing has come in.

The honest limitation: weekday mornings is not a live feed. If you need to know within minutes, neither tool does that — and jobagent.ch states no rhythm at all, so you cannot even compare. Ours is written down here so you can hold us to it.

Coverage: where jobagent.ch is the better tool

Their home page states the claim plainly: a job search engine that, with more than a quarter of a million jobs, finds «the most open positions in Switzerland», explicitly ALL advertised vacancies. That is a meta search — it searches the boards instead of holding an index.

Ours is a fraction of that: over twenty thousand open Swiss postings. If your bottleneck is coverage — a narrow occupation, a rural canton, or you simply want one sweep across everything advertised in German-speaking Switzerland — a meta search is the better instrument. That is arithmetic, not modesty.

Two things qualify the size gap without reversing it. The two numbers do not count the same object: a search engine across many boards may hold one vacancy several times, and we hold it once. And a results list is not an application. What decides your outcome happens after the posting, which is where the two tools separate.

What a Swiss application needs that a job board does not give you

If you are applying from abroad or in your first year here, this is the part that costs interviews, and no job board fixes it. A Swiss dossier is not a US resume. Including a photo is normal here, not a faux pas. Language ability belongs in the document as a CEFR level — B2, C1 — and «fluent» reads as evasive. The workload is a Pensum in per cent, so «80–100%» in a title is a real condition and not a typo. Two pages is the norm rather than an indulgence. If you are not Swiss or EU/EFTA, the permit line belongs in the document, because it answers the first question the recruiter has. And Arbeitszeugnisse — the written employer references from every previous job — are expected as part of the dossier, which surprises almost every arriving applicant.

Our generator is built on exactly those rules and starts from the advert you are looking at: open a posting, and the CV is written against that text in about a minute; then you edit any line by hand, or ask for a change in a sentence and get it in seconds. The same applies to the motivation letter, to the check against that advert and to interview preparation. Export is PDF and Word, neither watermarked, in 54 design variations — 2 layouts × 3 fonts × 9 accent colours, counted in the code today.

jobagent.ch takes the other route and links out to a separate provider for CVs and letters, alongside a salary calculator, employer profiles, a consultant search and a career glossary. That is a decent environment for orienting yourself. It simply starts from scratch each time, because the advert does not travel with you.

If you are registered as unemployed: the RAV proof

Both tools produce the official monthly sheet of job-search efforts. On jobagent.ch their own guide is precise about the route: register, sign in, then enter a voucher code, because «to create the RAV proof you must have a Premium account». The code can be redeemed once. Then you shortlist jobs, edit each application — title and company are prefilled, «the remaining data you must enter manually» — enter your full name and AHV number, and download the sheet. The voucher page carries one sentence and one field: the code is personal and non-transferable. No price, no purchase route, no statement of where the code comes from, so we record it as not stated.

On our side the application tracker fills the official SECO form in German, French or Italian; it is part of the free account and can be looked at without signing up. Name and AHV number you type in either way — that is the form’s requirement, not the tool’s.

The rule behind both sits in the ordinance, and we opened it there. Article 26 of the Unemployment Insurance Ordinance requires targeted efforts, «as a rule in the form of an ordinary application», and proof for each control period «by the fifth day of the following month at the latest, or the first working day thereafter». If that deadline passes without an excusable reason, the efforts are no longer taken into account; the competent office reviews them monthly. Both tools fill in paper. Submitting it is yours, and what counts is what reaches your RAV on time.

Who should use which

Use jobagent.ch if you read German or French comfortably and coverage is your bottleneck: a narrow occupation, a rural canton, or one sweep across everything advertised. Use it too if employer ratings and a salary calculator help you sort — we have neither. And if your RAV handed you a voucher code for their Premium access, use it; access you already have beats any recommendation.

Use SwissJobs.app if you work in English or Italian, if you want to see how old a posting is before you spend an evening on it, and if you are applying rather than browsing — because from the advert there is a path to a finished Swiss dossier without copying anything anywhere.

And the honest closing point: they do not exclude each other. Their alert for breadth and ours for depth cost nothing together, and neither needs an account.

Everything about jobagent.ch comes from our own requests on 4 September 2026 without signing in: the home page in German and French, the alert page, the Informatik results list, one individual posting, the voucher-code page and their guide to the RAV proof. The publication date of that one posting comes from the page’s structured data, not from anything visible in the text. We deliberately did not widen the sample, because their protection system responds to fast repeated requests with blocks. We did not subscribe to their alert, so its rhythm is recorded as not stated. Our own figures come from the code and from live pages fetched the same day. The market figures are shares of our own index of open Swiss postings as at 4 September 2026.
